What this checker shows

Website authority is an estimate of how strong and trusted a website is, based mostly on its links. No single number tells the whole story, so this checker puts the six that matter side by side: two authority scores, two traffic estimates, a spam signal and the domain’s age.

MetricSourceWhat it tells you
Domain Authority (DA)MozHow likely the site is to rank, based on its links (1–100)
Domain Rating (DR)AhrefsHow strong the site’s backlink profile is (0–100)
Ahrefs trafficAhrefsEstimated monthly visits from search, and the top country
Semrush trafficSemrushA second, independent monthly traffic estimate
Spam ScoreMozShare of similar sites that were penalised — lower is better
Domain ageDomain registryHow long the domain has been registered

Moz explains DA in its Domain Authority guide, and Ahrefs explains DR in its help centre.

How to read the numbers together

  • High DA and DR with real traffic — a genuinely strong site.
  • High DR, low DA and little traffic — the links may have been built cheaply to inflate DR.
  • Good scores but almost no traffic — Google does not trust the site enough to send visitors. Common on link farms.
  • Spam score of 30% or more — be careful before you get a link from it.
  • Very young domain with high scores — check its history before trusting it.

How to increase your website’s authority

  1. Earn links from more different websites. Ten links from ten sites help more than ten links from one.
  2. Focus on relevant, trusted sites. One respected site in your niche beats many low-quality directories.
  3. Publish content worth linking to. Guides, data and free tools attract links on their own.
  4. Build brand signals. Listings on trusted platforms — for example podcast platforms — add strong domains and brand mentions.
  5. Clean up bad links. If spammy sites point at you, the disavow guide explains when to act.

To compare several sites at once, use the bulk DA and DR checker, which also gives each site a verdict.

Website authority FAQ.

Is this website authority checker free?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and shows DA, DR, Ahrefs traffic, Semrush traffic, spam score and domain age in one place.

What is website authority?

Website authority is a way to estimate how strong and trusted a website is, mostly based on the links pointing to it. Moz measures it as Domain Authority (DA) and Ahrefs as Domain Rating (DR).

What is a good authority score?

Compare a site with others in the same niche. As a rough guide, 20–40 is a growing site, 40–60 is solid and 60+ is strong. Real organic traffic matters as much as the score.

Why are DA and DR different?

Moz and Ahrefs use their own link databases and formulas, so the same site gets different numbers. Look at both together, plus traffic.

Why do Ahrefs and Semrush show different traffic?

Both are estimates based on keyword rankings and click models. Each tool tracks different keywords, so their numbers rarely match. Use them to compare sites, not as exact visits.

Does Google use DA or DR?

No. They are third-party metrics. Google uses its own signals. DA and DR help you compare sites quickly.
