Domain Authority
Checker.
Check the Moz Domain Authority of any website for free — with Ahrefs DR, spam score, real traffic and domain age next to it, so you can tell real authority from inflated numbers.
What is Domain Authority?
Domain Authority (DA) is a score from 1 to 100 created by Moz. It predicts how likely a website is to rank in Google compared with other sites, based mainly on the number and quality of websites linking to it. A higher DA means a stronger chance to rank.
According to Moz, DA is calculated by a machine-learning model that compares a site’s link profile with sites that do and don’t rank in Google. The scale is logarithmic, so going from 20 to 30 is much easier than going from 70 to 80.
How to read your DA score
| DA | Label | What it usually means |
|---|---|---|
| 1–20 | Low | New site or very few quality links |
| 21–40 | Growing | A real, growing link profile |
| 41–60 | Solid | Established site that ranks for many terms |
| 61–80 | Strong | Well-known publication or brand |
| 81–100 | Excellent | Major platforms such as Wikipedia or YouTube |
A “good” DA is relative. Compare your score with the sites ranking on page one for your keywords, not with Google or Amazon.
Domain Authority vs Domain Rating
DA (Moz) and DR (Ahrefs) both measure link strength, but they use different link indexes and formulas, so the same site often gets different numbers. DA also tries to discount manipulated links. That is why this checker shows both side by side — a big gap between them is worth a closer look. Read the full comparison in DA vs DR.
How to spot a fake or inflated DA
- High DA, almost no organic traffic. Google does not send visitors, so the authority is probably bought.
- A high spam score. Moz has found that sites with a high spam score are often penalised.
- DA far above DR (or the other way round). Real authority usually shows up in both.
- A very young domain with a high DA. Check the domain age — expired domains are often reused for link farms.
This checker puts all of these signals next to DA, so you can judge a site in one look before you buy a link or a guest post.
How to increase Domain Authority
- Earn links from more unique, relevant websites. Ten links from ten sites beat fifty links from one.
- Get listed on trusted platforms. High-authority profiles such as podcast platforms (DA 80–97) add strong domains safely.
- Publish guest posts on real sites. Choose sites with real traffic and low spam — see the guest post sites list.
- Clean up toxic links. If you have obvious spam links, build a disavow file.
- Be patient. Moz updates DA regularly, but new links can take weeks to show.

Domain Authority checker FAQ.
Is this Domain Authority checker free?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and shows Moz Domain Authority together with DR, spam score, traffic and domain age.
What is a good Domain Authority score?
Compare it with the sites ranking for your keywords. As a rough guide, 20–40 is a growing site, 40–60 is solid and 60+ is strong.
Why is my Domain Authority so low?
Usually because few websites link to yours yet, or Moz has not found those links. New sites often start between 1 and 10.
How often does Domain Authority update?
Moz recalculates DA regularly as its index changes. New links can take a few weeks to affect the score.
Is Domain Authority a Google ranking factor?
No. DA is a Moz metric. Google does not use it, but it is a useful way to compare websites quickly.
Can I check many websites at once?
Yes. Use the bulk DA and DR checker to compare up to 10 sites with a verdict for each.
